What we do

Baer Design creates beautiful hand-crafted furniture, bespoke and ready-made, and offers comprehensive design solutions for any residential or commercial space.

Alongside furniture, we specialise in bespoke kitchens using high-end woods inspired by Danish design, and also provide fitted furniture for any space in your home or work place.

Our process

We are all about offering impeccable service, quality of materials and real design.  Your kitchen will be designed with your level of usage in mind with emphasis on flow and optimum functionality.  we will incorporate modern day necessities like charging points and easy to use appliance work tops all whilst subscribing to a modern simple look.

We use real woods, solid carcass’ and box draws. Our decoration is found in simple door handles and old fashion joinery.  We follow the Danish principal that all of the elements are included  for a reason and not just to add beauty.

We have worked on many projects in Cape Town and the winelands, but are not limited to our own geography. Email us or come see us for more information and to see all our projects.  The initial meeting we can discuss your requirements and the aesthetic you are wanting to achieve.  From there we can offer rough estimates of costs and timelines and then if you would like to go further we will provide you with fully comprehensive set of drawings including rendered images that are like photographs along with itemised and detailed cost quotes.

The team

We have over 20 years experience between Robert the designer and the craftsman. Robert has designed and project managed builds in Franschhoek, along with a three year period in London working for Habitats as head kitchen designer. He returned home in 2015 and worked for a great company in cape town designing kitchens, furniture and fitted furniture working on some very exciting projects in Cape Town and as far a field as St Francis Bay.

Bear Design was started in December 2016 and has completed two residential kitchens, fitted furniture and a number of commercial projects along with producing a beautiful collection of furniture.
